What It Is
The Hydrotech drum filter is a mechanical and self-cleaning microscreen filter that is highly effective in removing particulate from water. Drum filters are commonly used in aquaculture facilities to polish the water prior to additional treatment. With screens available from 10 to 150 microns they can be used for almost any application where solids need to be removed from water.
How it Works
Water is filtered through the periphery of the drum and particles are carefully separated from the liquid through the special cell structure of the filter panels. As solids build up on the filter cloth, the water level inside the drum rises, triggering a sensor that automatically starts rotating the drum and initiates the high-pressure rinse backwash. Solids are rinsed off the filter cloth and collected in the waste trough and discharged. The filtration continues through clean filter cloth during the backwash, thus allowing a continuous filtration process. Hydrotech's unique design of the filter panels prevents fragmentation through careful handling of the solids. This high filtration efficiency is essential in optimizing water quality parameters.

Patented Filter Design
Hydrotech’s unique, patented filter panels greatly simplify both the replacement and change out of the filter. The drum is constructed in sections, each with up to six filter panels depending on diameter. With over 20 different sizes, this modular design facilitates maintenance and makes it easy to adapt the filter to the actual needs of flow capacity and filtration performance requirements.
